Always use less quantity of Pigeon peas (Toor dhal) & more vegetables to prepare Sambhar.

Use 2 to 4 varieties of the following vegetables to make Sambhar:
- Radish
- Ash Gourd
- Chayote (ChoCho)
- Brinjal
- Pumpkin
- Indian bean (Broad bean)
- Carrot
- Toor dal - 50 grams
- Vegetables - 200 grams
- Tomato - 2 medium sized
- Sambhar powder - 3/4 table spoon
- Rock salt - to taste
- Water - as required
- Coriander leaves - little bit
- Small onion (Optional. If you like the taste of onion, add it along with vegetables & tomato while boiling) - 10 pieces
- Boil Toor Dal separately and keep aside.
- Wash and cut the vegetables into bigger sizes.
- In a separate vessel, put the vegetables, add tomato, Sambhar powder and little bit of salt and cook for 5 to 10 minutes.
- Ensure that the vegetables do not become mushy.
- Now transfer the boiled toor dal in this vessel and cook for 3 to 5 minutes.
- Finally turn-off the stove and add required salt and coriander leaves.
